As the finale of The Golden Bachelor season 2 approaches, Mel Owens is hinting at who he picks to give his final rose.
With hometown dates airing on October 22, there are still a couple of episodes to go until the finale — including the long-awaited fantasy suites episode. Mel is down to his final three: Debbie Siebers, the 65-year-old Denver fitness professional who has never been married; Cindy Cullers, the 60-year-old retired biomedical engineer from Austin and divorced mother of three; and Peg Munson, the 62-year-old retired firefighter and bomb tech from Las Vegas and divorced mom of one.
However, Mel is dropping clues about his upcoming finale episode, which will take place in Antigua.
“ABC can put on a production,” he told Us Weekly in an October 22 interview. “We go to Antigua. I’ve never been there. I’ve been to islands, but I’ve never been there. But whoever scouted it out and set it up and got things prepared, just the little details, it’s just so good.”
When pushed for more details, Mel didn’t name names but he did seem to confirm that he picked someone son at least we know his season doesn’t pan out like Brad Womack’s first The Bachelor season when he rejected both of his final two women.
“You have the setting, and I know who it is,” Mel said. “It’s really emotional. And you’re a little nervous, but it’s so brilliant… It’s so good, you won’t believe it.”
“You won’t believe how we get there, not mechanically, but how we get there emotionally,” he added. “There’s some movement and twists and turns.”
Elsewhere in the article, Mel makes it clear that he had a tough time making cuts later in the season, admitting that he made a pros and cons list for the women. “I usually don’t make those types of lists. I can do it in my head, but when you write stuff down, it’s meaningful. I wanted to write down my first impressions, the goods, the bads, the neutrals. It really didn’t sway me, but I could still look at it,” he said.
“It was tough,” he added, “and I’m just trying to figure out who is going to be the best fit for me, who I would enjoy. The hometowns are all great. But there’s that magnetism that pulls you in that direction no matter what, and it’s a little bit more toward one person than the other, so I went with my gut.”
After hometown dates on October 22, we’re expecting to see a “Women Tell All” episode on October 29, followed by the finale episode on November 5.
