Rachel DeMita urges Caitlin Clark to embrace her “villain arc,” defending the Indiana Fever star amid growing criticisms and injury struggles after her standout WNBA impact.

Caitlin Clark is having a hard time both on and off the hardwood. Playing just 13 games this season due to injuries, Clark had to retire to the bench for the rest of the season. However, despite her not playing, Clark headlined the WNBA collectible market this season. But sadly enough, all such stats seem to be futile when it comes to giving the 23-year-old star her due respect. And in a recent appearance, Rachel DeMita has asked the Fever star to embrace the role of a ‘villain.’

In a recent turn of events, Clark’s name was heavily rumored to be associated with Unrivaled, which was due to announce a couple of new additions to their league. Unfortunately, owing to Clark’s injury, the 2024 Rookie of the Year was left out.

Rachel DeMita Has Some Interesting Advice For Caitlin Clark

Clark has remained a target of criticism for many people. Despite her efforts and impact in making the WNBA such a great success, the Indiana star has always faced some scathing criticisms. And this is something that did not sit well with DeMita. In a recent episode of her ‘Courtside Club’ podcast, DeMita asked Clark to turn heel.

“Her name gets used so much in so many different ways, and honestly, I wouldn’t mind at this point if Caitlin just started her villain arc,” DeMita said. “She needs to start putting her foot down because some of this stuff is getting a little wild… People are using her name for their hidden agendas on both sides,” said DeMita.

DeMita also pointed out how Clark is used as a pawn in the WNBA circuit. She also lashed out, saying that whatever Clark does draws a lot of criticism, and thus, it is evident that she cannot please her critics. Thus, according to DeMita, it is time for the Fever star to embrace the villain within her. And DeMita is not alone. Stephanie White, too, did not like how Clark’s name was being used as a pawn.

Stephanie White Unhappy With Caitlin Clark’s Name Being Used As A Pawn In CBA Negotiations

The ongoing CBA negotiations have been quite stressful for the WNBA athletes. Things took a complicated turn when the league commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, recently criticized Clark. Immediately after, Lynx star Napheesa Collier hit back at Engelbert, accusing her of a lack of accountability. And that is not all. Fever head coach Stephanie White does not like how Clark’s name is being thrown around in the entire CBA narrative. She feels like the 23-year-old is being used as a pawn.

“A pawn in a lot of other people’s games and narratives. I hate it all for Caitlin. She’s a 23-year-old kid who loves to play this game, who is a pawn in a lot of people’s games and narratives. I hate that for her,” White said.

Thus, it is evident that the situation with Clark has become quite sensitive. Now, it will be interesting to see how things pan out from here on.
