Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have to bring his MVP form for Sunday’s must-win clash against the Houston Texans.

Per ESPN’s Field Yates, the Chiefs have listed starting offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor and superstar guard Trey Smith as “doubtful” for Sunday’s clash with the Texans. Taylor is fighting tricep/knee injuries, and Smith is dealing with an ankle issue.

Earlier this week, Kansas City placed star rookie OT Josh Simmons on the injured reserve with a wrist injury. With Simmons sidelined, the Chiefs are likely to be down three of their starting five linemen.


Per ESPN, the Texans rank No. 1 in both total defense (allowing 265.7 yards per game) and scoring defense (allowing 16.5 points per game). Only six teams have more sacks than the Texans (34), and their 12 interceptions are tied for the third-most in football.

The Chiefs’ defense has been a problem this year, and Kelce isn’t getting much help from his receivers or running backs. We’ve seen him carry flawed teams to the promised land before (the 2023 championship-winning team was arguably worse than this year’s squad).
