Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative personality Charlie Kirk, honored her late husband on what would’ve been his 32nd birthday.

The U.S. Congress approved a resolution designating October 14 (his birthday) as a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk” after he was sh0t and k1lled while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10. This Tuesday, President Donald Trump, 79, awarded Charlie with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, hosting the event in the White House Rose Garden.

Erika accepted the award on the Turning Point USA founder’s behalf, giving an emotional speech after Dana White was laughing with Trump at Charlie’s memorial service last month.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for honoring my husband in such a profound and meaningful way,” Erika said at the ceremony for Charlie on Tuesday. “And thank you for making this event a priority amid the peace process in the Middle East.”

Later in her speech, she shared a message from their daughter.

“Happy Birthday Daddy. I want to give you a stuffed animal. I want you to eat a cupcake with ice cream. And I want you to go have a birthday surprise. I love you,” Erika said, telling the message from their three-year-old daughter.

Several took to social media to share their opinions on Erika’s commentary at the Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony for Charlie.

“Hearing her speak about their children is the hardest,” one shared on X, formerly Twitter. A second X user remarked, “That is truly heartbreaking. He should be with his kids right now, eating ice cream and getting hugs.”

Another added, “Her speech gutted me. So heartbreaking, so incredibly delivered. What grace.”
