Ayesha Curry didn’t hold back when it came to revealing what she really thought about his now husband Stephen Curry when she first met him.
The Canadian entrepreneur and TV personality had a candid conversation during the latest episode of “Call Her Daddy” podcast, hosted by the very famous podcaster Alex Cooper.
Ayesha, who’s an actress and producer, recently joined the voice cast of an upcoming animated sports comedy called GOAT. As we can see, the cookbook author and television host has had a very busy summer, as she hit Europe with some of her friends.
Ayesha reveals what she thought about Steph
Ayesha and Stephen Curry are one of the most powerful couples not only in the NBA, but in professional sports. They have four children: Riley, Ryan, Canon, and Caius. Together, they share their vacations and daily life with their millions of followers.
But it wasn’t love at first sight, at least not according to Ayesha. When Alex Cooper asked her how did she met Steph and what she thought of the basketball superstar, the entrepreneur kept it 100% real and admitted that she didn’t think she was gonna end up marrying the Golden State Warriors iconic baller.

“I met him in high school, I’m Canadian so I grew up in Ontario and moved to the States at 14, I went to North Carolina, and that’s actually where we met, he’s actually one of the first people that I met on the States, but we were just friends (…) went to the same church, shared the same friends group at church.”
And what did Ayesha thought about Steph’s basketball skills? She didn’t even know how good her future husband was. “Apparently he was (good), but I genuinely didn’t pay attention to that because I grew up in such an arts driven family that sports, outside of Doug Flutie playing for the Buffalo Bills, it wasn’t a thing in my house.”
The first date in Los Angeles
Ayesha Curry moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting, and so it happens that Steph Curry was in town for a basketball camp. That’s where the future NBA Hall of Famer contacted his high school friend and asked her if she wanted to hang out.
“We hung out and we literally been together ever since. This was like my real date so I was just nervous, it was just like years of having a crush (on him), and then I just never thought that he would like someone like me. I just didn’t think it was going to be a thing, I thought we were just going to be friends, just friends,” Ayesha stated.
During the interview, Mrs. Curry spoke candidly about her early views on relationships and family. She admitted that marriage and children were never part of her original life plan. “No. So I didn’t want kids. I didn’t want to get married,” she said frankly. “I thought I was going to be a ‘career girl’ and that’s it.”
