Star Running Back Breece Hall Is Officially Done With The New York Jets

It appears that star running back Breece Hall is on borrowed time with the New York Jets.
Breece Hall looked like a budding star in his 2022 rookie year, which was cut short by a season-ending ACL tear. In seven games, Hall had 463 rushing yards, four touchdowns and 681 total yards of offense.
Hall was healthy in 2023 and logged 994 rushing yards, 1,585 yards of offense and nine total touchdowns. Just when it looked like he was ready to break out, Hall had an underwhelming 2024 season that saw him finish with 876 rushing yards and 1,359 yards of offense, a considerable drop from what we saw in 2024.
According to a report from ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Breece Hall is a strong “candidate” to get traded if the Jets are out of the playoff race leading up to the trade deadline:
“The Jets want to be a run-oriented offense, so it wouldn’t have made sense to trade their most accomplished back. It could be a different story around the mid-season trading deadline. If they fall out of contention, Hall will be a prime candidate to be dealt. We already know how much Glenn likes Allen and Davis.”
Hall is heading into the fourth and final year of his rookie contract, so it makes no sense for the Jets to hold and lose him for nothing in free agency if they’re out of postseason contention.
The Jets brought in Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey to replace Jeff Ulbrich and Joe Douglas as the head coach and GM, respectively. Rodgers and star wideout Davante Adams were both released, and 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields was signed to take over as the Jets’ starting QB.

We’ll find out soon enough if the drastic changes in New York lead to a better campaign from Hall in his contract year.

In one of the top revenge games on the 2025 slate, Hall and his Jets will play host to Aaron Rodgers’ Steelers in the Week 1 season opener. Will Rodgers get some revenge on his former team, or will the new-look Jets get some sweet comeuppance on the four-time MVP? Stay tuned.
