William, 43, has been cheering Irwin on since the very beginning. On November 11, he surprised viewers with an unexpected appearance on “DWTS” to encourage the Australian conservationist and Earthshot ambassador.

“We’re missing you, Robert,” William said in a video message. “Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here.”

Turning to Carson, he added, “You need to get him in as much glitter as you can.” Carson was stunned on air, exclaiming, “I can’t believe he just said my name!”

Irwin later explained that he had been scheduled to join William in Brazil for the Earthshot Prize, but told the prince he was “still here” competing.

It Wasn’t the First Time William Reached Out to Irwin

William has been a steady supporter of Irwin’s conservation work. In June, when Irwin joined a Radio 2 broadcast, the prince called in with another warm message.

“Good morning, Scott, or should I say G’day, Scott?” William joked with host Scott Mills, as reported by The Independent.

He continued, “I know you’ve got the fantastic Robert Irwin on the show this morning, a brilliant ambassador for the Earthshot Prize.”

Apologizing for his absence, he added, “Sorry, I can’t be with you both this morning, hoping to catch up with you soon.”

He also invited Irwin and Mills to the Earthshot Prize in Brazil, saying, “It’s going to be a fantastic event, great show.” William ended with a playful warning: “He likes to pull random terrifying animals and creatures out of his pockets while he’s on anyone’s show and talking to them.”

Irwin and Carson earned the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy on November 25. The moment carried special meaning, as his sister, Bindi Irwin, had won the same trophy ten years earlier with Derek Hough.

Following the finale, Irwin told People magazine, “To follow in those footsteps and to do the same has meant everything to me.” He added, “This has absolutely changed my life.”
