DiJonai Carrington Faces Criticism After On-Court Incident Following Sophie Cunningham Game [VIDEO]
DiJonai Carrington faces massive backlash after another heated court strike.
Chicago Sky star DiJonai Carrington has smacked yet another player across the face.
Less than a week ago, Carrington was ejected after committing a Flagrant 2 foul against Sophie Cunningham. Late in the first quarter, Cunningham was on a fast-break breakaway layup when Carrington chased her down and swiped her left arm hard across Cunningham’s face and neck area.
The contact knocked Cunningham to the court, and after an official video review, referees upgraded the penalty to a Flagrant 2. She was ejected from the game.
Immediately following her ejection, Carrington posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE” in all caps on Threads and tagged the Indiana Fever.

During the Sky’s loss to the Valkyries, DiJonai Carrington made contact with the face of Cecilia Zandalasini. She did so while swiping at the ball and caught the Golden State forward in the eye.
The hand movement from Carrington was notable. She used her right hand to attack the ball. However, her left hand was in a position where it was physically impossible for her to reach the ball unless it went through Zandalasini’s face.
Luckily for her, she only got a common foul. However, she would get a technical foul in this game and face yet another fine.

Carrington also made contact near Tiffany Hayes’ mouth on a separate play. Neither instance resulted in a flagrant foul.
Lately, the prominent basketball figure has faced unexpected national headlines regarding her highly aggressive playing style. Because of that, social media is watching her more closely than it ever has before.
The Cunningham incident was an eye-opener, but what she wrote online took it to another level. She was lucky to escape being suspended.
The Chicago Sky have not been mathematically eliminated from the playoff race. However, their playoff hopes are fading fast with a 12–22 record following a 91–71 loss to the Golden State Valkyries.
