Carrie, 42, was back on the judging panel with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

After a contestant performed for the judges, Carrie was quick to comment on her appearance.

“I couldn’t stop looking at her baby knees,” she said to her fellow judges.

Luke was confused and asked, “Her what?”

Carrie then explained, “When you have a face in your knees.”

She went on to explain that after Prince William and Princess Catherine welcomed their first child, Carrie’s knees hit the headlines.

Carrie said, “My knees were in a magazine saying how Prince George’s face is in Carrie Underwood’s knees.”

She then proceeded to say that her knees could “sing”.

Standing up, Carrie moved her knees and pretended they were singing.

“Hahaha that’s funny,” commented one person on Threads.

“My daughter has them too! Soo funny Carrie,” penned a second.

But other fans were less than impressed by Carrie’s remarks.

On Reddit, one person said, “I NEVER want to hear ANYONE tell me that nobody notices all the little things I’m self-conscious about because this poor woman is sitting at home somewhere hearing Carrie Underwood say ‘I couldn’t stop staring at her baby knees’.”

“I felt terrible for her,” penned a second.

“This is exactly what i thought as soon as carrie said that the poor girl,” said a third.

The all-new season of American Idol began on ABC last eek.

With a whole new format, the show is shaking up auditions, Hollywood Week, and how fans get to vote.

Ryan Seacrest has returned as host once again.

This year will see there be one audition location only.

And not only this, but the golden ticket leads to Nashville, not Hollywood.
