Angel Reese praised A’ja Wilson before the Atlanta Dream took on the Las Vegas Aces. However, she couldn’t help but be overly confident with her own game during the pre-game interview.
A’ja Wilson is arguably one of the best, if not the best, WNBA players today. And it’s safe to say that Angel Reese is not quite at the level of Wilson, yet.
While Reese may be one of the most recognizable players in the league today, she needs to work on other facets of her game – especially her touches around the basket. She misses a lot of those, which is one of the most glaring problems of her game. Sure, she could celebrate tough makes from time to time, but the Dream forward needs vast improvement in that area.
And maybe refrain from comparing her game to other players, too? Before the Aces took on the Dream, Angel Reese was overly confident about her statement when asked about playing against A’ja Wilson.
“She’s [A’ja Wilson] obviously a great player…But I know I’m a great player too,” Reese said during a pre-game interview.
While the game between the Aces and Dream was close (Las Vegas won, 85-84), Wilson easily proved to everybody that she’s way better than Reese. The four-time WNBA Most Valuable Player had 20 points and six rebounds in the win.
After Angel Reese’s bold pre-game statement, she had a tough outing against the Aces. She only scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds, but only shot 1-8 from the field and had an alarming eight turnovers.
Angel Reese Quickly Approaching Career Milestone in Just Her Third Year
Scoring isn’t the strongest area of Reese’s game. Everybody knows that she doesn’t have the greatest-looking jumpshot beyond 10 feet. And her layup package needs a ton of work, because she’s missed a lot of easy looks by rushing her shots. However, not all of her game is bad. According to a recent report, the 24-year-old is nearing the WNBA’s top 15 in career double-doubles in just her third year.

Despite failing to register one against the Aces, Angel Reese needs 20 more double-doubles to crack the top 15. And it’s safe to say she’ll reach that mark sooner rather than later. She’s always been a very good rebounder, dating back to her time at LSU. And that skill carried over at the WNBA level.
