On Easter Sunday, American Idol celebrated its first-ever faith-based episode with a special filled with powerful performances from various gospel acts.
Idol alum Roman Collins took the stage along with Christian singers CeCe Winan, Brandon Lake, gospel quartet The Brown Four and season 23 mentor Jelly Roll.
It was the young quartet of extraordinary talent that had Carrie, 42, moved to tears.
As The Brown Four took the stage, Carrie was noticeably impressed with their harmonizing and vocals and seemed touched by the spiritual performance.
At one point, she began to tear up and had to wipe her eyes – a moment that wasn’t captured by the ABC camera crew, a source told The U.S. Sun.
“She dabbed her tears a couple of times. And at one point she was heard telling Lionel and Like ‘I’m sorry yall I’m a wreck. I’m just really moved.’
“But at that point, the lights were dim so cameras didn’t see her crying,” the insider claimed.
The emotional reaction came when The Brown Four were performing on stage and made their way out to the crowd.

The group consists of four children from Memphis, Tennessee, aged 6 to pre-teen range.
Daylan, Dania, Diana, and Davion, who form the quarter, sang the traditional worship song, Oh, How I Love Jesus.
The four talented kids began on center stage and then walked across the platform and down the stairs while singing acapella.
Next, they sang This Little Light of Mine accompanied with some musical support from the show’s house band.
Carrie Underwood ‘pushed’ for American Idol Easter show after crew felt first faith-based episode was ‘inappropriate’
Carrie, along with fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, can be seen giving them a standing ovation.
The Before He Cheats singer appeared moved as she clapped for the performers and whispered over to Luke as the kids concluded their time on stage.
Sunday’s Easter special marks the first time in the show’s 23 seasons that they have done a completely faith-based episode.
While Carrie, who has been vocal about her Christian beliefs, supported the faith-based special, it’s something that divided some of the staffers behind the scenes, an insider told The U.S. Sun.
“It’s the first time they’ve done a faith-based episode and the crew was polarized by it.
“Some didn’t think it’s completely appropriate but felt uncomfortable speaking up about it while others saw no problem with it as it didn’t focus on a specific religion.
“But some people who work on the show liked it primarily because of the religious aspect. Again, a polarizing topic. People felt different ways about it,” the source claimed.
They added that Carrie was a “big advocate for it” and “pushed to make this night happen.”
“It was really important for her for the show to go through with it. Lionel and Luke were on board, but Carrie was the most vocal about wanting it to make sure it happened.
“She felt it was important to have gospel night after moving to LA where she feels she can’t be as open about her religion and beliefs.
“She’s not the only reason why it happened, but she’s a big reason why it happened,” the source stated.
KEEP THE FAITH
Earlier this season, Carrie opened up about how “difficult” it is to be vocal about her faith within her new home of Los Angeles and the entertainment industry as a whole.
“I know how difficult it is to come into the entertainment industry and bring your faith with you.
“It is a brave thing to do because there are a lot of outside forces that are going to tell you not to do that.
“I want to tell you that I’m proud of you guys,” she tearfully told a pair of contestants, Breanna Nix and Rylie O’Neill, who auditioned in March with a cover of Brandon Lake’s spiritual song, Gratitude.
American Idol airs on ABC on Sundays and Mondays at 8 pm EST.

“30 MILLION PEOPLE ONCE LOST THEIR MINDS OVER… A CURTAIN.” Believe it or not, one of the funniest moments in TV history came from a simple green curtain. Back in 1976, the Carol Burnett Show delivered a scene so ridiculous that the entire country practically stopped breathing from laughter. Carol walked down a grand staircase wearing a “gown” made from green velvet drapes—curtain rod still hanging across her shoulders like she’d ripped it straight off the wall. The audience exploded the second they saw her. She didn’t even make it halfway down the steps before people were doubled over, crying with laughter. Costume legend Bob Mackie came up with the idea as a quick joke, but when Carol caught sight of herself in that over-the-top outfit, she literally collapsed laughing. And nearly 50 years later, it’s still just as hilarious as the day it aired.
Long before memes and viral videos dominated pop culture, The Carol Burnett Show delivered one of the most unforgettable comedic…
