Michael Irvin is on the up-and-up now, but the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver has a checkered past. The team is also known to have a questionable history of dealing with character issues when it comes to its top players.
Irvin, while one of the greatest wideouts in NFL history, couldn’t have been described as squeaky clean during his playing days and could have easily landed himself in jail after st@bbing a teammate in the neck with a pair of scissors.
This is pretty well documented, but it’s mostly forgotten, with many years having passed. Plus, the Cowboys seemed to try their best to cover it up.
The story resurfaced online this week after reporter Jeff Pearlman appeared on the ‘Going Deep With Chad and JT’ podcast. Pearlman had several wild stories, recalling incidents involving Barry Bonds and John Rocker.
But his bit on Irvin st@bbing someone in 1998 was easily the most jarring.
“The Cowboys had an offensive lineman named Everett McIver,” he said. “He went to get his hair cut. Michael Irvin said, ‘Seniority.’ All the offensive linemen are like ‘F— that, don’t get up…’
“They start getting in a pushing match, and Michael Irvin grabs the barber’s scissors and st@bs him in the neck and drags it along. Blood is spraying everywhere. It’s a crazy scene.”

While McIver survived the ordeal, Irvin could have still gone to jail for a number of offenses, including attempted murd3r. He was also on probation at the time.
According to Pearlman, the Cowboys covered it up by not reporting it and giving the victim some cash. Of course, the story got out and took on the name “Scissorgate,” but Michael still avoided prison.
“Michael Irvin at the time was on probation,” he added. “If that had gotten out, he’s going to jail. The Cowboys never reported it and gave Everett McIver a nice payout.”
So you see, things could have unfolded a lot differently for Irvin, but he ended up having a Hall of Fame career.
While the Cowboys were successful in keeping their star receiver out of jail, they didn’t experience much of it on the gridiron as they lost in the first round of the playoffs and haven’t been to an NFC Championship Game in 30 years, something Irvin himself has been highly critical of them for.
Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate
Brittney Griner (Photo via Twitter)
WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”
This is the first time I’ve heard Brittney Griner speak! 🤨

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
