The state trooper who confronted South Carolina’s Nyck Harbor during his touchdown celebration against Texas A&M received punishment for his bizarre actions.

After Nyck Harbor scored an 80-yard touchdown that extended the Gamecocks’ lead to 23 points, cameras caught the angry state trooper exchanging words with the South Carolina wideout after bumping into him.

Here’s the video of the incident:

After the video of the incident went viral, the Texas A&M Police Department announced that the state trooper who confronted Harbor had been sent home:

Harbor finished the day with three catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, per ESPN. His big day went to waste, however, as the Gamecocks blew a 27-point lead in a heartbreaking 31-30 loss.

The Gamecocks have been one of football’s biggest disappointments this season, wasting tremendous seasons from Harbor and star quarterback LaNorris Sellers, an early front-runner to go first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Nyck Harbor has caught 24 passes for 503 yards and four touchdowns, emerging as a dynamic deep threat for South Carolina. Unfortunately, this is just one of several strong performances by the offense that went to waste.

The Gamecocks finished 9-4 last season and reached the Citrus Bowl, where they fell 21-17 to Illinois. But South Carolina’s frustrating trend of alternating winning and losing seasons has continued this year, and they now can’t finish any better than 5-7.
