Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders had an undisclosed illness last month, but “Prime Time” insists he’s ready to roll.
Last month, ESPN reported that Deion Sanders was dealing with an illness at his home in Texas. The illness forced Sanders to withdraw from a planned speech in Florida at the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium.
Speaking at Big 12 media day on Wednesday, Sanders declined to specify the illness he was dealing with, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel and Adam Rittenberg. However, Coach Prime insists that he’s feeling good and ready for the 2025 season:
“I’m already back. I’m here today. I’m handling my responsibilities. So I look forward to it. I can’t wait. You’ve got to understand, some of the young [players] I haven’t even met yet. I’m so excited about that.”
“I’m really not going to tell you much. I’m not going to talk about my health. I living good. I’m living lovely. Not a care in the world.”
Sanders had two toes on his left foot amputated in 2022 before beginning his final season at Jackson State. A year later, before starting his first season in Boulder, Sanders underwent surgery to have multiple blood clots removed.

Deion Sanders went 4-8 in his first season with the Buffaloes but improved that record to 9-4 the following year, thanks to the all-world play of Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The Buffs’ season ended with a loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl.
Following rumors that Sanders would potentially take the Dallas Cowboys’ HC job, he put that silly speculation to bed by signing a lucrative five-year contract extension worth $54 million in March.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Buffs fare in 2025, with Hunter (taken second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars) and quarterback Shedeur Sanders (Cleveland Browns) both making the jump to the NFL.

Discussing her recent surgery, she added: ‘I feel very grateful to have completely recovered.
‘I feel really good. I have a lot of people reaching out who have had the same thing.’
Davina McCall, 56, announced in November she’d been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of benign brain tumour, and has supported Fearne.
She continued: ‘Everyone needs a Davina. She’s been amazing, weird that we had the same health thing going on at the same time. She’s so calming and we speak every day. She is just the best
It comes after Fearne has seemingly made another thinly-veiled dig at her ex-husband as she gushed that she is the happiest she’s ever been in a positive update.
Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, Fearne gushed that she is ‘really happy’ and is ‘springing out of bed in the morning ready for life’.
Scott, who has known Fearne for 25 years, said he has never seen her ‘more positive or happier’, prompting Fearne to agree and reply: ‘Yeah I feel great!’
