The wild official trailer for 9-1-1: Nashville is here, and it’s bringing a heaping dose of family drama — and even a firenado — to Music City.
PEOPLE has your exclusive look at the nearly three-minute-long trailer for the latest installment in Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 franchise, premiering Thursday, Oct. 9, on ABC.
“This city needs us at our best, even when things are at their worst,” Captain Don Hart (Chris O’Donnell), a veteran firefighter and former rodeo rider, says in the opening seconds, setting the tone for the tight-knit group of emergency responders.

As we see Hart’s team respond to a stage collapse at a Kane Brown concert at Ascend Amphitheater (and people holding on for dear life from very tall water slides at Nashville Shores Waterpark), the scene shifts to Blue Bennings (Hunter McVey).
“I need money. I’ll dance whatever shift you’ve got open,” he says, as he immediately gets a job dancing as a fireman at a local bar, where he promptly rips his shirt off and bares his chiseled abs for the lucky patrons.

Outside the bar, Blue witnesses a pedal tavern full of ladies celebrating a bachelorette party — one of Broadway’s most recognizable sites — crashing into a car.
Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s Cammie Raleigh, the 9-1-1 dispatcher, takes the call and Captain Hart and his crew show up to the scene.
“Who the hell is that?” Don’s son, Ryan Hart (Michael Provost), asks as they see Blue stepping in to help the victims. Impressed by what he’s seen, admitting Blue has “talent, Ryan tells him, “If you ever wanna make a career shift, you let us know.”

It’s at this point that Don breaks the news to Ryan and Blue: they’re brothers.
We then meet Blue’s mother, Dixie Bennings (LeAnn Rimes), who tells him “the universe put you where you are for a reason.”
Dixie urges Blue to go to the firehouse and “start sinking your hooks into ’em” and that he “could be set for life” if he gets in with the Hart family, so he takes Ryan and Don up on their offer to become a firefighter.

It’s not all one big happy family, though, as we get a hint of discord between Ryan and Blue but, perhaps more importantly, between Don’s wife Blythe Hart (Jessica Capshaw) and Dixie. At one point, Dixie calls Blythe “uppity” and Blythe suggests to Don there are things about Blue that he’s not aware of.
As the Harts and Bennings gather together, we get a cheers “to family” that looks pretty tense.
But whatever scheme Dixie convinced Blue to pursue in order to get close to the Harts seems to be weighing on his heart as he says, “I just don’t feel like I can go through with this plan anymore,” to which she reminds him, “I’m your family. Remember that.”

As the trailer progresses, we see someone get rescued from the Marathon Motor Works water tower and someone else from the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in downtown as the show continues to feature famous landmarks.
“We form a bond that is stronger than blood, ’cause ours is a family that is forged in fire,” Captain Hart says of the firehouse in the final moments, as we then see a tornado get engulfed in flames, creating a firenado.
Also starring on the show are Hailey Kilgore as Taylor Thompson and Juani Feliz as Roxie Alba.
