Speaking exclusively to The U.S. Sun, Bream, who is publishing her new book Nothing Is Impossible with God with Fox News Books on March 10th, spoke about how she clung to her Christian faith while having an excruciating bout of eye pain.

The issue started about 15 years ago, right before her 40th birthday, and was so intense it left her unable to sleep longer than an hour or two at night.

At one point during the struggle, Bream suffered from suicidal ideations and was left completely without hope, she previously told People.

“It was a very dark period in my life, and it took a long time to get a proper diagnosis,” said Bream.

Despite an arduous process and painful setbacks, Bream noted she was able to find relief and insisted, “God was faithful through all of it.”

“I prayed fervently, and even though He didn’t answer in exactly the way I had hoped – He did give me a way through,” she said.

“My faith is deeper because of that experience, as is my empathy for others who are struggling with challenges that seem insurmountable.”

Speaking with People in 2019, Bream explained that she was diagnosed with chronic erosion syndrome exacerbated by corneal map-dot fingerprint dystrophy.

The condition causes skin cells on her cornea to tear, leading to spontaneous and powerful moments of pain.

Although there’s no cure, Bream was able to test out a litany of solutions until she found a routine that worked for her.

In 2017, her life was completely transformed after she got corrective laser surgery in order to stop wearing contacts.

“It really gave me my life back,” she said.

“I do occasionally have a little pain here and there overnight. It’s nothing, nothing like the pain I had before.

“It actually will subside in five minutes and I go back to sleep. It’s not hours and hours and double vision and triggering migraines.”

Bream, who became a New York Times bestselling author for her book The Women of the Bible Speak, dives into the lives of 11 biblical heroes in her new nonfiction read.

She explored the dramatic stories to demonstrate how God doesn’t promise an easy life, but instead vows to “be with us through the storm,” the description reads.

“Nothing Is Impossible with God is an encouraging reminder of how the Lord is willing and able to bless us more than we can possibly imagine,” reads the book’s overview.
