NBC viewers say an “angel” was the best performer at the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting.

On Wednesday, December 3, the news channel marked the start of the holiday season with several festive performances, including one from host Reba McEntire, before lighting a 75-foot Norway spruce from East Greenbush, New York, dressed in 50,000 multicolored lights and a 900-pound Swarovski star.

However, one performer stole the show not once, but twice. Singer and actress Halle Bailey stunned viewers with her rendition of My Favorite Things from the 1965 musical The Sound of Music. However, later on, she left many with their jaws on the floor with her incredible vocals on the Christmas classic Silent Night.

After the 25-year-old, who wore a stunning white gown, sang My Favorite Things, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to praise her beautiful voice. One person wrote, “Halle Bailey the vocalist you are.”

Another added, “Halle Bailey was stunning singing that. So festive.” A third even questioned when the star would play Maria von Trapp, Julia Andrews’ character in the musical. They penned, “Halle Bailey as Maria in the sound of music WHEN?!”

Later, while Bailey sang Silent Night, fans couldn’t help but express their awe of her voice, with some even saying she sounded like an angel and that she was the best performer of the night.

One person wrote, “Halle bailey the best performer so far for Rockefeller tree lighting!” as a second added, “Halle Bailey with her voice sounding like an angel.”

A third praised, “Halle Bailey you will always be famous,” as a fourth commended, “Halle Bailey a generational talent fr.”

A fifth chimed in, “Halle Bailey is so beautiful and Silent Night is my favorite Christmas song,” as a sixth gushed, “watching rockerfeller christmas tree lighting special & Halle Bailey did her thing.”

Yet another complimented, “Halle Bailey – beautiful and amazing singer, and perfect song choice! Merry Christmas!” as someone else agreed, “Halle Bailey sounds so beautiful!”

Bailey wasn’t the only performer during the tree lighting who was praised for a great show.

Gwen Stefani’s fans warned Mariah Carey to “look out” as they dubbed her the new “Queen of Christmas” after her performance.

Halfway through the special’s first hour, the 56-year-old took to the stage to perform her new Christmas song, Hot Cocoa, from the 2025 deluxe edition of her fourth studio album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas. The song was released on November 14, 2025.

Viewers at home were so impressed with Stefani’s performance that they also took to X, formerly Twitter, to praise her.

One person even dubbed her the new “Queen of Christmas,” a title that Mariah Carey has long held with her Christmas hit, All I Want for Christmas Is You.

The fan wrote, “Gwen Stefani is the new ‘Queen of Christmas.’ Look out, Mariah!!!” Another added, “Gwen Stefani is working hard this Christmas.”

A third praised, “Gwen Stefani is totally a vision—beautiful, sparkling, enchanting and serving vocals while performing her new Christmas song ‘HOT COCOA’ at the 2026 Rockefeller Center tree lighting in NYC.”

A fourth said, “Gwen Stefani still looks great!” as a fifth complimented the singer, “Gwen Stefani is 56 years sexy.” Yet another commented, “Love this song, Gwen Stefani.”

Along with Bailey, McEntire, and Stefani, Marc Anthony, Kristin Chenoweth, Brad Paisley, and Michael Bublé sang seasonal hits from Rockefeller Center’s ice skating rink in front of the Prometheus statue.
