If the Cincinnati Bengals are to trade Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson, it will unsurprisingly cost teams a pretty penny.

The 30-year-old, who missed Thursday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hip injury, has been the subject of trade rumors amid Cincy’s sluggish start. They lost four in a row after winning their first two games, before getting back in the victory column on Thursday night.

There are conflicting reports about where the Bengals stand on a potential trade involving the four-time Pro Bowler. Earlier this week, it was reported that the San Francisco 49ers have interest in Trey Hendrickson, but that the Bengals aren’t keen on trading their best defensive player.

In an update, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Bengals will “have some sort of a fire sale” if they keep losing. Rapoport also revealed the Bengals’ hefty asking price for the star pass rusher:

“As far as what it might take, what I’m told is, a young player who would help the Bengals this year and into the future, and a future mid-round pick, if the Bengals are even willing to do it.”

Hendrickson, who signed a four-year deal with the Bengals in 2021, agreed to a one-year extension in 2023 and is a pending free agent.

Many assumed Hendrickson was a one-year wonder when he tallied 13.5 sacks for the New Orleans Saints in 2020. Handing him a lucrative deal in 2021 free agency seemed like a mistake at first, but Hendrickson has instead emerged as one of the league’s elite pass rushers.

Per StatMuse, Hendrickson’s 61 sacks since 2021 are the third-most in football, behind only Myles Garrett (64) and TJ Watt (62.5).

Hendrickson hasn’t lost his swagger this year, either. He’s up to four sacks in six games and appears poised to reach double-digit sacks for the fifth time in six years.
