Bobby Nash was our captain on 9-1-1 since the beginning of the show but in a shocking twist, Peter Krause‘s character was killed off. It left fans shocked and even stars like Angela Bassett, who played his wife Athena, made it clear that it was not her choice to have Bobby sacrifice himself to save others. In respect for Bobby, it doesn’t seem like Station 118 is going to get a new captain right away. At the Disney Upfronts in New York, Oliver Stark, who plays Evan “Buck” Buckley on the series, says that by the end of Season 8, Nash’s chair is still going to be left empty.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the Upfronts, Stark made it clear that the team at Station 118 was still grieving. “The chair will be empty come the end of the season,” he told the outlet. “Which I think is wise because it gives some time to let the dust settle and let the chips land where they may and and you know, let these people grieve and then we can start to see what the future will look like.” For who Stark thinks can take over and fill Bobby Nash’s shoes, he knows definitely who it shouldn’t be: Ravi Panikkar.

He was asked who should take over and joked “Ravi.” He followed up by saying that the Anirudh Pisharody character wouldn’t work as captain. “No, definitely not Ravi.” But Stark does have some suggestions on who should take over. For him, he thinks

Howie Han (Kenneth Choi) or Hen (Aisha Hinds) are the best options to lead Station 118.“I think Chimney would be the next choice, experience wise, skill wise, leadership ability wise, and just overall good person wise,” he said. “If not Hen, my vote goes to Chimney.”

Bobby’s death is still weighing on fans. When his death happened, many thought it was going to be a fake out but it has been confirmed that Bobby Nash is dead in the 9-1-1 universe. And at the time of this twist, Krause released statement to Variety about Bobby that really nails why his death is so important and devastating. “Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this. First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day,” he told the publication. “His story arc honors them.”
