CBS Goes Full Franchise Mode With Spinoffs From “Yellowstone,” “FBI,” “Fire Country” and More
Although “FBI” fans lost two iterations of the show, they gained another.

And “Blue Bloods” fans are getting their own spinoff. Not to mention “Fire Country” fanatics. All three new shows will join the “NCIS” spinoffs – making CBS one of the most franchised networks.
Let’s start with that new version of “FBI.” Unlike the now done “Most Wanted” and “International,” it’s not so much about the FBI but the sister organization, the CIA. Yes, “CIA” is set to follow “FBI” in the Monday primetime slot. This one stars “Lucifer” star Tom Ellis as “a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer” who is joined by “a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law.”
“Blue Bloods” gets an expansion after the 14 year old show came to an end in December 2024. “Boston Blue” will follow “Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg and the recently added Sonequa Martin-Green as new partners.
Now onto the younger, newer franchise of “Fire Country.” As the show has dominated its Friday timeslot, the world will expand with “Sheriff Country.” Morena Baccarin will lead this show that is set to air directly after its predecessor. Interestingly enough – like Dick Wolf’s “FBI” nights on CBS as well as “Chicago” and “Law & Order” nights on NBC – Jerry Bruckheimer, who produces both “Fire Country” and “Sheriff Country” on top of “Boston Blue,” will have his own nights.
Meanwhile, “NCIS”, “NCIS: Origins,” and “NCIS: Sydney” will take over Tuesdays.
There’s also a new show following “Yellowstone” character Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) with the working title “Y: Marshals.” “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan is set to produce.
CBS isn’t only about franchises. The network is also ready to launch a new singing competition series called “The Road.” Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Gretchen Wilson are taking on hosting duties. Sheridan also produces this one.
Bouncing off of reality competition, Padma Lakshmi will be hosting “America’s Culinary Cup” for the nation’s best chefs. Although, this show is set to come in the midseason.
Other new shows include comedy “DMV,” dramedy “Einstein,” and true crime “Harlan Corben’s Final Twist.” Not to mention the returning “Watson,” “Elsbeth,” “Ghosts” and “Matlock.”
CBS also boasted about it’s recent #1 status in ratings for the 17th consecutive year thanks to shows like “Tracker,” “Matlock,” the “NCIS” franchise, “Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” spinoff “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “60 Minutes,” and “Hollywood Squares.” Not to mention all of the event programming they have to offer including but not limited to the Emmys, Golden Globes, Tonys and Grammys. They also offer AFC and BIg Ten Football, NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball and PGA Tour golf.
