Cleveland sports fans had all sorts of priceless reactions after internet detectives found a bizarre coincidence involving LeBron James and Shedeur Sanders.

On Tuesday, news broke that the Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback was issued a speeding ticket by just before 12:30 a.m. Shedeur Sanders was clocked going 101 MPH in a zone with a 60 MPH speed limit in his Dodge Ram TRX on Interstate 71, per WKYC.com.

Incredibly, Sanders isn’t the only notable Cleveland athlete to receive a ticket for speeding at exactly 101 MPH. On Interstate 71. On his 23rd birthday.

Social media detectives pulled up an old news story from January 2008 about LeBron James getting a ticket for speeding at 101 MPH on Interstate 71, when he was celebrating his 23rd birthday. James was with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the time:

Football fans had hilarious reactions to the incredible coincidence involving LeBron James and Shedeur Sanders.

“Browns might’ve found something special with Shedeur,” a user wrote.

“They only hate on shedeur for getting a speeding ticket and going 101 but no one’s talking about how LeBron did 101 on the same interstate. got it! 😭🤦‍♂️,” said another.

“Shedeur 🤝 LeBron 🤝 Edey,” wrote a fan.

“Next Cleveland great!” said another.

“GREATNESS IS ALIVE IN CLEVELAND. Full circle,” a user commented.

“So basically it’s a right of passage for 23 year old sport stars in Cleveland,” said a fan.

If Shedeur Sanders can bring a fraction of the excitement LeBron James delivered for Cleveland, the Browns will be in good hands. A 10-time All-Star with the organization, James led the Cavs to five NBA Finals appearances and to their first championship in 2016.

Sanders was expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, with many early mock drafts projecting him as a top-three selection. It was stunning enough when Sanders slipped out of round one, but nobody could have envisioned that he’d fall all the way down to round five at No. 144 overall.

The 23-year-old is competing with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel for the starting QB job. We’ll see in the coming weeks if Sanders can surprise everyone and win the QB1 role.
