Season 34 of DWTS is nearly at its halfway point. There are nine celebrities left on a season that started with fourteen. The dances get tougher as the season goes on, but fans don’t think the scores are fair. The pros on Season 34 are reportedly also fed up with ‘unfair’ scores and the obvious ‘favoritism’ from the judges. Keep reading to find out what’s going on.
Viewers Slam First 10s Of The Season
Getting a score of 10 on DWTS isn’t easy. The first 10s of the season are usually a good indication of who will be in the grand finale and possibly the winner. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt and her partner Mark Ballas received the first 10s of the season on Wicked Night.
Olympic medalist Jordan Chiles and her partner Ezra Sosa also received 10s. But some fans think that frontrunner Robert Irwin deserved the first 10s of the season. He received all 9s for his dance.
The scoring is always a hot-button issue on the dance competition. The judges are often accused of being lenient to some celebrities and harder on others. Season 34 contestant Elaine Hendrix addressed the scoring in a behind-the-scenes moment with her partner, Alan Bersten.

She said that she didn’t understand why they were scored so low. Several DWTS fans agreed on social media that the scoring was unfair.
“It makes me so annoyed that she keeps getting underscored. She’s phenomenal, and she’s working through injury, age, etc. She’s not getting enough credit where due”
“Her scoring and the commentary is textbook age and gender bias 100%”
“None of us understand the scoring, Elaine. We are with you.”
It’s not just the celebrities who feel the scoring is unfair. The pros are reportedly sick of it, too.
DWTS Pros Fed Up With ‘Unfair’ Scores, Obvious ‘Favoritism’
The votes from viewers are added to the scores from DWTS judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli to determine which celebrity goes home each week from the Los Angeles, California, studio. But many viewers feel that the scores don’t always reflect what they see on the dance floor. And it’s not just viewers.
The U.S. Sun reports that the pros are also sick of getting low scores while other contestants continue to receive undeserved higher scores. “There are a handful of pros, both some who are still on the show and some who have already been eliminated, who are fed up with how they are being treated.”
“Some feel the judges have been harsher than they needed to be to them, which not only impacts scores, but it also impacts how the at-home viewers see the season,” an insider claimed.
The source added, “Other pros like Alan and Pasha [Pashkov] feel extra protective of their partners and feel the judges have been too harsh on them.”
The angry pros have reportedly approached production with their concerns. “Multiple pros have stepped up to meet with production over the judges’ bias and are demanding some kind of change and more fairness moving forward,” the insider said.
However, there aren’t currently any plans for changes in the scoring system. Let us know in the comments if you think the scoring on DWTS is unfair.
