Indiana Fever general manager Kelly Krauskopf is taking heat on social media following her comments on Caitlin Clark.

The Fever beat the Atlanta Dream to improve to 10-10 on Friday night and should be in the news for positive reasons. However, that’s turned out not to be the case, with their GM pissing fans off by making a strange comment about the All-Star guard.

Speaking to the media after the win, Krauskopf seemed to suggest that the team does not consider Clark its face, although every bit of data, including numbers regarding ticket sales, social media engagement, and television ratings, implies otherwise.

“We want to sustain the growth and the interest level in the franchise. I mean, this is about the Indiana Fever,” Krauskopf told reporters. “Yes, we have a foundational players in Caitlin Clark … and Aliyah Boston, and we’re going to add to that. But I want this team to be a leader in the country, and an enduring brand … like Apple or something. We have a real opportunity here.”

Fans Hail Caitlin Clark As The Fever’s “Michael Jordan”

Kelly’s comments did not sit well with fans, who have pointed out that the Fever should be all in on Clark instead of trying to push her to the corner.

“What is this mess?!😡” one asked.

“The Fever and WNBA just don’t get it. They were unprepared at the outset, and still refuse to acknowledge this brief moment in time,” said a second.

“Ask the @chicagobulls how things have worked out for them since Michael Jordan retired,” a third added.

“Even in professional sports. Nobody hates women more than other women,” a fan suggested.

“The vanity of these women is incredible. They can’t stand having another women be the center of attention,” one comment read.

Perhaps the Fever GM is trying her best not to make the other Fever players feel like a sideshow. But her comments have certainly irked the fanbase.

She has also deactivated her account on X, making things even weirder.
