Lexie Hull was one of the Indiana Fever players who managed to stay healthy and injury-free during a grueling season that left the team with six fewer players.
Present at every game, the 6-foot-1 point guard not only witnessed her teammates’ efforts to qualify for the playoffs and reach the semifinals, but also the support of the fans. And, of course, the hate.
Hull opens up about the rest of the WNBA’s opinion of the Fever
Caitlin Clark had already caused a stir with the Iowa Hawkeyes before arriving in the WNBA. The truth is that her presence has attracted more and more fans to the world of sports, reaching record audiences, sponsorships, and attendance. And this has a significant impact on Stephanie White’s team.
The attention they receive, whether directly or indirectly, has made Indiana more relevant, and this is what Hull believes sets them apart from the rest of the teams in the league.
In an interview with Glamour magazine, the 26-year-old guard said: “I think there is a level of jealousy when it comes to the Fever, just because of the media attention and the fans that have shown up for us ever since Caitlin got here,” Lexie shared.
The CC phenomenon, according to Hull, has made their rivals look for even more reasons to defeat them: “We’ve heard people and players and teams talking in their locker room about, ‘We can’t let the Fever win.’ If you have extra motivation to beat us because of something out of our control, that’s fine if that’s what it takes for you guys to come and try extra hard. I think a little bit of that is needed across the league,” she said.

She also continued to focus on this difference in the treatment they receive and the way their rivals approach facing them, something that Hull implied only the Fever receives: “Everyone should feel like they’re getting everyone else’s best, and I do feel like we get everyone else’s best.”
Meanwhile, despite expressing her desire to continue wearing the Fever colors, her future with the team is uncertain. Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Makayla Timpson are the only three players who have contracts with Indiana for next season, as the rest of their teammates have become free agents, including Hull.
The league’s collective bargaining agreement expires on October 31, and following salary improvements, they could benefit. However, there are no official confirmations about whether or not they will remain with the Fever.
