Black RabbitNetflix
Netflix has set September 18 for the premiere of Jason Bateman and Jude Law‘s new limited series Black Rabbit. The streamer also released some first-look images, which you can see above and below.
Created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, Black Rabbit is described as a “propulsive thrill ride and character examination about the way an unbreakable bond between two brothers can shatter their world and everything in its orbit.”
Set against the backdrop of New York City’s high-pressure nightlife scene, Black Rabbit centers on two brothers who are pushed to the brink by their duty to family and their pursuit of success. Jake Friedken (Law) is the charismatic owner of Black Rabbit, a restaurant and VIP lounge, poised to become the hottest spot in New York. But when his brother, Vince (Bateman), returns to the business unexpectedly, trouble soon follows; opening the door to old traumas and new dangers that threaten to bring down everything they’ve built.
In addition to Bateman and Law, cast also includes Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Chris Coy, Dagmara Dominczyk, Odessa Young and Robin De Jesus, with Amir Malaklou, Don Harvey, Forrest Weber, Francis Benhamou, Gus Birney, John Ales and Steve Witting.
Series is created and executive produced by Baylin and Susman for Youngblood Pictures. Executive producers include Bateman, who also directs, Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez for Aggregate Films; Law and Ben Jackson for Riff Raff Entertainment; Brian Kavanaugh-Jones from Automatik; Andrew Hinderaker, Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon and Erica Kay. Laura Linney, Ben Semanoff and Justin Kurzel also direct.

There’s a new beast stalking the streaming jungle, and it’s already being hailed as the year’s most addictive thriller. Netflix has just dropped the first look at Black Rabbit, a limited series so dark and deliciously twisted that it’s bound to keep viewers up long past bedtime. Starring none other than Jason Bateman and Jude Law—two titans of screen charisma—it’s the kind of show that practically dares you not to binge.
Mark your calendars for September 18, because that’s when Black Rabbit makes its grand debut. And if the early buzz is anything to go by, this is the series that’s going to have everyone talking, tweeting, and theorising for weeks on end. Set in the heart of New York City’s pulsing nightlife, the show plunges straight into the shadows, where ambition, loyalty, and old wounds collide in spectacular fashion.
At its core, Black Rabbit is a story about family—though not the warm, fuzzy kind. Jake Friedken (played with trademark magnetism by Jude Law) is the owner of Black Rabbit, a restaurant and exclusive VIP lounge poised to become Manhattan’s next big thing. He’s suave, driven, and just a touch dangerous—the sort of man who can command a room with a glance. But his carefully curated world is about to be turned upside down when his brother Vince (Jason Bateman, never better) returns to the fold.
Vince’s reappearance is anything but a happy family reunion. Old traumas bubble to the surface, new threats lurk around every corner, and the brothers are forced to reckon with the ghosts of their shared past. As the stakes rise, so does the body count—figuratively and perhaps literally. The series promises a relentless, propulsive ride through the city’s high-pressure hospitality scene, where every secret has a price and no one gets out clean.
Behind the camera, the pedigree is just as impressive. Black Rabbit was created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, who also serve as executive producers for Youngblood Pictures. Bateman isn’t just starring—he’s also directing, bringing the same razor-sharp sensibility that made Ozark a runaway hit. He’s joined by a powerhouse team of producers, including Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez for Aggregate Films, Law and Ben Jackson for Riff Raff Entertainment, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones from Automatik. Other executive producers include Andrew Hinderaker, Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon, and Erica Kay. And in a treat for fans of prestige drama, Laura Linney, Ben Semanoff, and Justin Kurzel will also be stepping behind the camera to direct.
The supporting cast reads like a who’s who of rising stars and acclaimed talent. Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Chris Coy, Dagmara Dominczyk, Odessa Young, and Robin De Jesus all bring their considerable talents to the table. With such a formidable ensemble, every scene crackles with tension and unpredictability.
Netflix is keeping much of the plot under wraps, but the premise alone is enough to set pulses racing. Two brothers, bound by blood but torn apart by ambition, forced to confront the wreckage of their past as they try to build a future in a city that never sleeps. Throw in the glitz and grime of New York’s nightlife, a dash of psychological suspense, and the promise of jaw-dropping twists, and you’ve got the makings of a must-watch sensation.
The first-look images released by Netflix tease a world of moody lighting, sharp suits, and even sharper dialogue. Law’s Jake looks every inch the kingpin, while Bateman’s Vince exudes a haunted intensity, hinting at the dark secrets that threaten to unravel everything. The city itself becomes a character—glittering on the surface, rotten beneath, a place where dreams are made and destroyed in equal measure.
If you thought Bateman couldn’t top his turn in Ozark, think again. And if you’ve missed Law’s brooding presence on the small screen, Black Rabbit is about to remind you why he’s considered one of Britain’s finest. Together, they’re dynamite—a pairing that promises fireworks from the very first episode.
So, as the nights draw in and the autumn chill sets in, prepare to be utterly gripped. Black Rabbit isn’t just another Netflix thriller—it’s a deep dive into the darkness of the human soul, a tale of brotherhood, betrayal, and survival that will leave you questioning who you can trust long after the credits roll. Come September, there’ll be only one place to be: glued to your screen, following the trail of the Black Rabbit. And trust us, you won’t want to look away.
