Cleveland Guardians designated hitter David Fry left Tuesday’s game after a terrifying moment at Progressive Field. In the sixth inning, Fry squared to bunt and was struck in the face by a 99-mph fastball from Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. The ball deflected off his bat and slammed into his face.

Fry went down right away as trainers and manager Stephen Vogt rushed onto the field. After a few tense minutes, Fry was able to stand on his own but was carted off for further medical attention. He was first taken to Lutheran Medical Center and then transferred to the Cleveland clinic, where he is undergoing further evaluation. The team said he did not lose consciousness.

Now, a perfectly timed photo has surfaced on social media showing the exact moment David Fry was hit. The image captures the ball smashing into his face, and it’s as brutal and scary as fans feared. The picture quickly went viral, with many calling it one of the most horrifying baseball images in recent memory.

“I’ve already reached out to him,” Skuibal, who was once in Cy Young award conversation earlier this season, said.

“I’m sure his phone has blown up. Just want to make sure he’s all right. Obviously, he seemed like he was OK coming off the field, and then hopefully it stays that way. I know sometimes with those things, they can change.”

Before the incident, Fry had gone 0-for-3, continuing what has been a tough season for him at the plate. He is hitting just .171 this year with 8 home runs and 23 RBIs, a big drop from his 2024 All-Star season when he batted .263 with 14 homers.

Despite the injury, the Guardians pulled off a 5-2 win over the Tigers. Cleveland trailed 2-1 before rallying in the sixth inning, capitalizing on a Skubal balk and an RBI groundout from Gabriel Arias to take the lead. The bullpen handled the rest to secure the win.

With Tuesday’s win, the Guardians are now tied with the Tigers for the AL Central lead. It’s an incredible turnaround considering that at one point in August, they trailed Detroit by 12.5 games. Both teams will continue the series on Wednesday. As for David Fry, it’s unclear when he will return.

Luka Doncic ‘destroys’ the Mavs on his return. Gets standing ovation and shows love to Mark Cuban

Luka Doncic hits 45 points in his first game in Dallas since being traded to the Los Angeles.

It’s rare for a home crowd to cheer the visiting team, but Luka Doncic’s return to Dallas was no ordinary night.

Just days before February’s trade deadline, the Mavericks shocked the NBA by sending their 26-year-old superstar to the Lakers—a move that outraged fans and sparked backlash toward GM Nico Harrison.

On Wednesday, Doncic played his first game back in Dallas since the trade. The arena was filled with fans in both his old Mavs and new Lakers jerseys, many chanting “Fire Nico” in protest.

Despite the emotion in the air, Doncic delivered a dominant performance, scoring a game-high 45 points to lead the Lakers to a 112-97 win. It was a powerful return for one of the league’s brightest stars—and a night Dallas won’t soon forget

The Mavericks pay tribute to Luka Dončić

While the Mavericks’ decision to trade Luka Doncic remains heavily criticized, they handled his return to Dallas with undeniable grace. The organization made sure his first game back as a Laker was met with respect and appreciation.

Every seat in the arena was draped with a T-shirt reading “Hvala za vse,” which translates from Slovenian to “thank you for everything.” It was a thoughtful nod to Doncic’s heritage and impact on the franchise.

Before tip-off, during the starting lineup announcements, the Mavericks played a tribute video showcasing some of Doncic’s most iconic moments in a Dallas jersey. The emotional gesture clearly resonated—moving Doncic to tears in front of the crowd that once called him their own.

From the opening tip, Doncic was locked in. By halftime, Doncic had racked up 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting in just 19 minutes—marking the 10th time in his career he’s scored 30 or more in a single half.

Though his scoring slowed in the second half, he continued to lead effectively, securing both a Lakers win and an unforgettable showing for the fans in Dallas.
