DiJonai Carrington is no stranger to drama on the court, but this time, fans believe she’s gone too far. What started as a fiery rivalry with Caitlin Clark has spiraled into something much darker in the eyes of many. After another wild week on the court, the conversation isn’t about her hustle or defense- it’s about whether the league should step in before someone actually gets hurt.

Carrington has already made headlines for her physical brand of basketball. But after yanking Sarah Ashlee Barker by the hair during Friday night’s game, even her defenders are falling silent. Add that to a flagrant foul on Skylar Diggins earlier in the week and the infamous eye poke on Clark last postseason, and fans aren’t just upset, they’re demanding action.

WNBA fans didn’t hold back after watching the Barker incident unfold. Many called for the league to take swift action, arguing that Carrington’s track record speaks for itself.

“Dirtiest player in the league. Obviously intentional. Should be suspended before she really hurts somebody,” one fan wrote on X.

Another added, “She seriously needs a suspension. It’s a clear pattern at this point.”

Others recalled last season’s playoff clash when Carrington poked Clark in the eye during a high-stakes matchup. While Carrington denied doing it on purpose, claiming she was simply making a play on the ball, that explanation didn’t convince everyone.

“What a shameless player,” one fan said. “I remember when she poked Caitlin Clark’s eyes. She can’t stand to see the quality before her eyes.”

Carrington, however, remains firm in her defense. Earlier this week, she addressed the criticism directly on social media.

“Yall fAnS swear I’m such a dirty player,” she wrote. “I’m SO over this narrative bc if u really know bball, u know I jus play hard asf & never give up on a play… I’m ALWAYS tryna make a play on the ball nun more, nun less.”

Despite her insistence, this week’s incidents have made it harder for fans, and possibly the league, to overlook the mounting concern. With emotions running high and the matter intensifying, the WNBA now faces pressure to decide whether Carrington’s physical style has crossed the line
