The Bondsman Star Kevin Bacon ‘Really Bummed Out’ by Amazon Cancellation: ‘I Wish I Had an Explanation’

The Bondsman‘s resurrection was short-lived, it turns out: Prime Video has cancelled the Kevin Bacon-led supernatural series after one season, TVLine has confirmed.

Bacon starred as Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who was murdered on the job and then was brought back to life so he could hunt down demons who have escaped hell and bring them back to the fiery depths. Season 1 debuted on Prime Video on April 3 with all eight episodes.

“Really bummed out that The Bondsman is not coming back for a second season,” Bacon said in an Instagram video on Sunday. “I just really loved walking in Hub Halloran’s shoes, making that show with so many great, talented people, making that music. I wish I had an explanation for you, but I honestly don’t. But for those of you who checked it out and wrote so many sweet comments — and there were a lot of you — I just want to say thanks. It means a lot to me. And, you know, I guess that’s the way it goes.”

The series from Blumhouse Television was created by Grainger David, with Erik Oleson (Arrow, Carnival Row) serving as showrunner. The supporting cast included Jolene Purdy (The White Lotus), Beth Grant (The Mindy Project), Jennifer Nettles (The Righteous Gemstones), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Damon Herriman (Justified).

Bacon, David and Oleson served as executive producers as well, along with Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie and Chris McCumber for Blumhouse Television and Paul E. Shapiro. Erik Holmberg served as co-executive producer.
