Reviews for 1587 Prime, the new restaurant opened up by Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, are about as lukewarm as the football team’s performance we watched in September.

Like many big-name athletes, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce decided to dip their toes into the restaurant entrepreneurship field. Their new Kansas City-based restaurant, 1587 Prime, opened on Sept. 17.

As you can see on 1587 Prime’s website and online menu, however, it’s not exactly a cheap place to dine in. Even a side like grilled carrots ($16), truffle fries ($16), a twice-baked potato ($24), broccolini ($16) and sautéed Spinach ($16) will cost a pretty penny.

A Delmonico steak costs a whopping $135, and a 16-oz Boneless Ribeye comes in at $165. If you fancy seafood, well, prepare to pay up $63 for roasted branzino or $76 for twin lobster tails.

And let’s just say that Patrick Mahomes’ and Travis Kelce’s restaurant isn’t exactly drawing rave reviews from the general public.

“I’m sorry $800 for one meal is ridiculous,” a fan wrote.

“Extremely overpriced items that the common folk save up to buy to further the divide between the owning class and the working class, and then complain about gas, groceries, etc,” a user added.

“STRICT DRESS CODE AND HIGH PRICES! WAY TO CATER TO THE ELITE,” a fan wrote.

“Football tickets have gotten too expensive for an average family of 4 to enjoy. Now 1587 restaurant is off limits to most. Do they take food stamps?” said a user.

“No no no. These are Miami celebrity prices. When you eat at a restaurant like this on different coasts, you run into celebrities. That’s not happening in Kansas City. The food is not worth the price you will pay. Stop and have a drink at the lobby bar. That’s great. It’s a nice atmosphere. It’s really beautiful, but there is nothing worth the money on the menu. It’s almost insulting,” a customer wrote on Google.

“Save your money. This is a classic “let’s start a restaurant because of our reputation” place. There’s zero soul in the food, menu is boring, and EVERYTHING is over priced,” another wrote.

The good news for Kelce and Mahomes is that their restaurant still has a 4.4 rating on Google. Unfortunately, for the general public, they won’t lower the menu prices as long as the restaurant remains full.

Patrick Mahomes & Chiefs Are Rolling On The Field Again

The Chiefs jumped out to a terrible 0-2 start, and many people began to write them off, claiming that the dynastic run was over. But Patrick Mahomes and KC have rebounded with victories in four of their last five games, including a 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 6.

Mahomes is having an MVP-like season with a 66.1 completion percentage for 1,800 yards, 14 touchdowns and only two interceptions. His 102.9 passer rating marks Mahomes’ highest since he last won MVP honors in 2022.

The red-hot Chiefs will look to improve to 5-3 on the year when they host the Washington Commanders on ‘Monday Night Football’ next week. It remains to be seen if Washington will have Jayden Daniels, who’s nursing a hamstring injury.
