The Los Angeles Lakers stumbled again on Friday and fell 116-104 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Luka Doncic suited up for the night despite feeling ill. But the night wasn’t simply for Los Angeles.

With just five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Lakers were within striking distance, trailing only two points. Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo attacked the rim with force during this time, challenging Lakers forward Rui Hachimura at the basket. The contact was heavy, but no foul was called.

DiVincenzo didn’t hold back. As Doncic grabbed the rebound and pushed up the floor, DiVincenzo committed a frustration foul. Immediately after, cameras caught him turning toward the referee and saying, “You a bitch,” not once, but twice.

The words were loud and clear, and Doncic’s reaction made the moment even more memorable. Doncic paused and looked genuinely confused by the outburst. He stretched out his hand, giving a funny, puzzled look as if to say, “What just happened?”

Despite being under the weather, Luka recorded 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds on 6-of-16 shooting. Meanwhile, DiVincenzo finished the game with 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

After the game, LeBron James acknowledged just how much the team missed the star guard’s full presence. LeBron didn’t shy away from acknowledging the impact of Doncic’s illness on the team’s performance.

“Obviously, with his illness, it impacts our team. We understand what he brings to our team and what he’s done since his acquisition. It definitely took a big blow for our team,” James said.

LeBron scored 40 points and did everything he could to keep the Lakers competitive. But without a full, healthy Luka, the team struggled to find rhythm and dropped to 2-1.
