It started with a playful hint from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and suddenly, the conversation around Super Bowl LX became a large-scale campaign. Everyone thought Taylor Swift had the halftime show locked up. After all, she is one of the biggest stars and has a built-in NFL storyline with her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Goodell actually thought about the idea. In fact, he made the hype even stronger. “We would always love to have Taylor play,” he told Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today. He added, “She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.” and even nudged Roc Nation’s Jay-Z, who oversees halftime production. “I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z,” Goodell said. “It’s in his hands.”

But while Swift was present in the early discussions about this, fans quickly pushed another name into the discussion. This one surprised even longtime NFL watchers.

Dua Lipa’s name kept popping up, and soon her supporters turned social media into a campaign for her to be in the halftime show.

One fan declared on X, “Just putting this out there to the Universe: Super Bowl LX 2026 – Halftime Show DUA LIPA.”

Another chimed in with, “We need a Dua Lipa Super Bowl LX halftime show.”

Others kept it simple: “Dua Lipa Super Bowl please.”

Sportsbooks noticed the shift. In March, FanDuel listed Lipa at +1000, while Bovada placed her at +1200. Later, one fan even pointed out that her odds tightened to +900, firmly placing her in the conversation with some of the biggest acts alive.

The case for Dua Lipa is clear. She brings global appeal and crossover hits like “One Kiss” and “Levitating.” Fans argue she could deliver a high-energy show that reaches outside the usual NFL audience. As one social media post said, “This would be a fun show, don’t let her fool you. The downside from a business perspective is that she would bring in a larger international market. But it would be a better performance than artists like Jay-Z.”

Roc Nation boasted that Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 halftime show drew 133.5 million viewers, breaking the record once held by Michael Jackson.

The company celebrated on Instagram: “We’ve broken the record again! The most watched Apple Music Halftime show EVER, with 133.5 Million viewers.”

If Taylor Swift takes the stage, many believe she could set a new mark. But madness around Dua Lipa proves fans are ready for more than one option. And with the NFL, surprises never stay off the table for long.
