NBC abruptly removed a popular series from its nighttime lineup and shook up the entire Winter schedule.
The network underwent some considerable changes to its schedule for the coming weeks in favor of 2026 Winter Olympics coverage.

However, fans didn’t expect one beloved show to not return when primetime programming resumes later this month.
Brilliant Minds has aired Mondays at 10:00 p.m. EST/PST since the series premiered in September 2023.
The show is currently in its second season with six episodes left to air, but fans will have to wait a while longer for their release.
NBC announced that The Voice: Battle of the Champions will air on Mondays from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST/PST, when the season premieres on February 23rd, booting the medical drama from its usual time slot.
The show’s return date hasn’t been announced yet, but it is expected sometime later in the season or over the summer.
Ratings for Brilliant Minds declined significantly during its second season and have struggled to reach the viewership levels it once had.
According to Nielsen data, recent episodes drew 3.67 million viewers, a drastic decrease from Season 1, which drew 4.2 million viewers in January 2025.
This doesn’t include viewership numbers on Peacock, where the series is available to stream.
NBC will make its final decisions on whether the show will continue closer to the upfront in May.
Fans were left frustrated over the abrupt schedule change and wondered if it signaled the show’s eventual cancellation.
“Deeply weird considering NBC knew when the Olympics was coming… why not prepare for this…” one person wrote on X.
“Bummer for fans of ‘Brilliant Minds,’ but the Winter Olympics always take over! Looking forward to catching the remaining episodes whenever they eventually air….hopefully soon…” said another.
“It smells like a cancellation to me,” predicted a third.
“So, it’ll be cancelled after this season?” asked a fourth.
“If it’s over the summer, they are cooked,” added a fifth.
“This is horrible news,” reacted a sixth.
Meanwhile, The Voice is undergoing a massive format change for Season 29, as it’s the first time in the show’s history that features a Battle of the Champions.
It’s also the first season in the show’s 15-year run that will feature three coaches instead of the usual four.
Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend are returning to battle it out after coming out on top in previous seasons.
