Emily Maynard Johnson was engaged to car driver Ricky Hendrick when he died in a plane crash in 2004. She found out shortly after his death that she was pregnant. She was just 19 when she gave birth to her daughter, Josephine Riddick “Ricki.”

Bachelorette viewers met the young girl when she was 6. Emily Maynard Johnson joined the reality show to find a husband. However, her engagements to Brad Womack (Bachelor) and Jef Holm (Bachelorette) didn’t work out. Ultimately, she married Tyler Johnson in 2014.

The couple lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with their kids. Emily Maynard Johnson had five biological kids with her husband, including a son in 2022. She then announced in 2025 that her oldest child, Ricki, then 19, was pregnant.

The family revealed in multiple social media posts that Ricki had given birth to a healthy baby girl named Romi. Emily Maynard Johnson posted photos from the hospital, including one of her daughter holding the newborn baby. In another photo, the Bachelorette star and her husband, Tyler, hold the baby and kiss in celebration of their grandchild.

Fan Ruins Happy Occasion With Snide Comment

Emily Maynard Johnson received some backlash when she announced that her teenage daughter was pregnant. Rumors of a feud surfaced, but were quickly shut down. Many of the Bachelorette star’s social media followers congratulated her on the new addition.

“Congrats! I remember watching you on the bachelor and you were the sweetest most loving mom and now your baby is a mom!”
“I remember when your baby was so young and now she has a baby. Yall making me feel old lol congratulations to all!!!”
“I pray for this day to be in my future. What a blessing!! So much love to you & your family, congratulations!!”

However, there was at least one hater in the comments with a snide remark about the baby’s birth:

“This isn’t a flex. You’re 39. Your daughter is exactly like you,” one person wrote.

They were quickly shut down by others who took issue with the rude comment.
