Mike Tomlin’s celebration did not age well.
We aren’t far removed from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens fighting for the division’s crown and a spot in the playoffs. But both teams are now without head coaches.
The Ravens fired their HC, John Harbaugh, after last Sunday’s loss to the Steelers.
Pittsburgh made it out, going on to the Wild Card Round, where they lost to the Houston Texans. And now, Tomlin is no longer their head coach.
The 53-year-old stepped down after 19 years in charge and zero losing seasons.
It wasn’t long ago that Tomlin was dancing and blowing kisses in front of a camera. The two-time Super Bowl champion had his blushes spared by Tyler Loop’s missed field goal and was extremely jubilant.
He was called out for it after the Texans blew the Steelers out in Monday’s first-round affair.
“Imagine acting like this after winning a game only due to the other team’s kicker shanking a kick. And then getting pummeled 30-6 at home in the wild card round the next week,” one fan shared along with the pertinent clip.
This was posted several hours before Tomlin resigned.

The Virginia native informed the team of his decision during a meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
“During our meeting today, Coach Tomlin informed me that he has decided to step down as our Head Coach,” team owner Art Rooney II announced.“Obviously, I am extremely grateful to Mike for all the hard work, dedication and success we have shared over the last 19 years.”
“It is hard for me to put into words the level of respect and appreciation I have for Coach Tomlin,” Rooney added.
“He guided the franchise to our sixth Super Bowl championship and made the playoffs 13 times during his tenure, including winning the AFC North eight times in his career. His track record of never having a losing season in 19 years will likely never be duplicated.
“My family and I, and everyone connected to Steelers management, are forever grateful for the passion and dedication Mike Tomlin has devoted to Steelers football.”
Tomlin had two years remaining on his contract with the Steelers.
As a result, the team will retain his coaching rights and could negotiate compensation should another franchise hire him before the end of the 2027 season.
Mike Tomlin leaves Pittsburgh with the longest non-losing streak in NFL history.
Perhaps we could see him go on to coach Baltimore, and John Harbaugh replace him in Pittsburgh in what would be a wild scenario.
