The New England Patriots have provided a heartwarming update regarding defensive coordinator Terrell Williams ahead of the Super Bowl.

The Patriots are headed back to the big game. And Williams will be with them despite missing most of the season battling prostate cancer.

Williams was a significant hire for Vrabel in January. The two men worked together for the latter’s entire six-year spell with the Tennessee Titans.

Vrabel brought him to New England after landing the job with his former team.

Unfortunately, the 51-year-old had to step away following his cancer diagnosis, meaning inside linebackers coach Zak Kuhr would need to step up. Kuhr has been calling defensive plays since Week 2 and has led the team all the way to the Super Bowl.

The Pats defense has been especially formidable in the playoffs, covering for a noticeably struggling offense.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the DC is traveling with the team.

“Mike Vrabel says defensive coordinator Terrell Williams, who has been focusing on his recovery from a prostate cancer diagnosis, will travel with the team to Super Bowl LX,” Reiss reported on Thursday.

The reporter also revealed which uniform the team will wear in the Super Bowl earlier in the day.

New England will likely benefit from the feel-good factor of having Terrell Williams around, even if he’s going to be there as a spectator.

For now, it is not clear what his role will be. But having him make the trip will come as a huge morale boost.
