Barstool Sports chief Dave Portnoy is a fan of the WNBA, most notably the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark.
The Barstool Sports president is 100 percent with the WNBA players in their quest for better pay.
In a video posted on his official “X” account, Portnoy expressed his support for the WNBA All-Stars wearing their “Pay us what you owe us” shirts during Saturday’s warmups.
He explained that he understands that the league has been a losing venture since its inception, but admits that the future is limitless.
Portnoy also ripped fans who have been sounding off against the players wanting more money.
“I see lots of morons trying to act like WNBA players don’t deserve more money,” Dave ortnoy tweeted.
“They are throwing around this ‘lost 50 million’ number that nobody even knows where it comes from. The finances of the league are a mess, tied in with NBA and purposely murkey. The owners don’t want to say how the league is doing cause then you gotta pay more going into bargaining agreement. The league is exploding. Franchise values are exploding. Ticket sales, merch, TV rights all exploding. The players have an opt-out in their CBA. Of course, they took it. It’s all about leverage in re-negotiations and for the 1st time in history of league players have power. The players make virtually nothing while the entire league explodes. Of course, they deserve more money. Just the values of the team pay for it without all the other stuff. If somebody told me I could buy a Boston team for 250 million, I would do it without blinking. That’s all you got to know about the WNBA finances.”

Barstool Sports chief Dave Portnoy stated that if the league offered him a franchise in Boston, he would pay the $250 million fee in a heartbeat because the league is “red hot” right now.
With Caitlin Clark in the WNBA, he is confident that the association is heading to an upward trend in the coming years because of the star power of players like her and others.
Portnoy added that these young stars are some of the most marketable players in any sport right now.
“I don’t care about the past. I don’t care what they’ve done for the past 10 years. I’m talking about right now. I’m talking about all the sponsors who want to be a part of this league, the TV deals they’re gonna be able to sign,” added Portnoy.
“They have a product that people are watching. It may not be for you, but this isn’t a handout. This isn’t ‘Oh, we feel bad for women, so let’s pay them.’ This is marketing and the ability to make money on this league, and right now, it’s endless. If you don’t get that, you’re a moron.”
