WNBA star Brittney Griner joined a plethora of athletes, celebrities, and fans worldwide who mourned the passing of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
On Tuesday, Black Sabbath’s frontman tr@gically p@ssed aw@y at the age of 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” a post shared on his Instagram.
Following the icon’s p@ssing, the Atlanta Dream standout penned a short yet sweet tribute to the late musician.
Brittney Griner called the British legend, a title that reflects his groundbreaking influence in the music scene.
Griner is averaging 10.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists across 21 games played, not counting Wednesday’s contest.
The Atlanta Dream kicked off the second half of the WNBA season with a disappointing loss on Tuesday night and then another road loss against the Las Vegas Aces.
The team finally got into the swing of things with a much-needed victory on Wednesday night against the Mercury.

After signing with the Atlanta Dream, Brittney Griner returned to Phoenix to play against her former team, the Mercury.
Griner has been living a full life as she enters the twilight years of her sure-fire Hall of Fame career.
On Wednesday, the Atlanta Dream center made her first return to Phoenix since leaving the Mercury in free agency, and it’s safe to say the league vet was feeling the love.
Phoenix kicked off the contest with a Griner tribute video that garnered an emotional reaction from the crowd, many members of which also had “Thank you, BG” signs.
Griner’s former teammate Diana Taurasi was in the house to support her friend, garnering another big cheer from the crowd.

WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”

WNBA Chooses Not To Investigate Brittney Griner

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got away with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
