Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa shared the advice he received from doctors on how to prevent future concussions.
Tagovailoa suffered three confirmed concussions between the 2022 and 2024 seasons. The first confirmed concussion came in a Week 4 “Thursday Night Football” clash against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tua Tagovailoa displayed the terrifying “fencing response” in that game and had to be carted off the field. He suffered another concussion in a Week 16 Christmas Day game against the Green Bay, missing the final two regular-season contests and their Wild Card Round showdown vs. the Buffalo Bills.
Tagovailoa suffered his third confirmed concussion in a Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills last year, leading to calls for his retirement. Concerned fans also feared that he may have been concussed in Miami’s Week 1 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last month, but nothing was announced on that front.
Speaking to reporters before Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Tua Tagovailoa revealed the key advice he’s following from doctors to avoid future concussions, per Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post:
“Carbing up more for the games and getting more fluids. I think it definitely helps with just the aspect of the brain. Everyone would be wondering, how did I feel on that hit (in the Jets game) and whatnot? Felt perfectly fine, felt great.
Throughout the years, that was one of the bigger things we hadn’t addressed was making sure that I got a good amount of carbs in my body,. So that as I drank water or as I drank the right stuff or whatever it was, that it’d stay in. And the doctors were talking about the liquid that your brain sits in and all of that…
And If I’m eating eggs, bacon, and sausage and there’s not much carbs, like if there’s no bread or whatnot, you kind of drink water and it’ll just flush out of you. So you can’t stay hydrated that way. But the carbs kind of help soak that in and stay there.”
Thankfully, Tagovailoa has stayed healthy through his first four games of 2025. Fans naturally fear for his safety any time he takes a hit, but the 2020 first-round pick clearly has too much passion to retire right now.

Tagovailoa and the Dolphins saved their season (for now, at least) with a victory over the AFC East rival New York Jets on Monday night. If they’re to climb back in the playoff race, Tagovailoa and company must defeat a struggling 1-3 Panthers team at the Bank of America Stadium.
The Dolphins will be without star wide receiver Tyreek Hill for the rest of the season after he suffered a horrific knee injury against the Jets. That means the likes of Jaylen Waddle, Darren Waller and De’Von Achane must step up the rest of the way.
Tagovailoa has seven touchdowns against four interceptions and has been held to under 200 yards passing in three of Miami’s first four games. We’ll see how he fares against a leaky Carolina defense that allowed 42 points in their Week 4 loss to the New England Patriots.
Luka Doncic ‘destroys’ the Mavs on his return. Gets standing ovation and shows love to Mark Cuban

Luka Doncic hits 45 points in his first game in Dallas since being traded to the Los Angeles.
It’s rare for a home crowd to cheer the visiting team, but Luka Doncic’s return to Dallas was no ordinary night.
Just days before February’s trade deadline, the Mavericks shocked the NBA by sending their 26-year-old superstar to the Lakers—a move that outraged fans and sparked backlash toward GM Nico Harrison.
On Wednesday, Doncic played his first game back in Dallas since the trade. The arena was filled with fans in both his old Mavs and new Lakers jerseys, many chanting “Fire Nico” in protest.
Despite the emotion in the air, Doncic delivered a dominant performance, scoring a game-high 45 points to lead the Lakers to a 112-97 win. It was a powerful return for one of the league’s brightest stars—and a night Dallas won’t soon forget
The Mavericks pay tribute to Luka Dončić
While the Mavericks’ decision to trade Luka Doncic remains heavily criticized, they handled his return to Dallas with undeniable grace. The organization made sure his first game back as a Laker was met with respect and appreciation.
Every seat in the arena was draped with a T-shirt reading “Hvala za vse,” which translates from Slovenian to “thank you for everything.” It was a thoughtful nod to Doncic’s heritage and impact on the franchise.
Before tip-off, during the starting lineup announcements, the Mavericks played a tribute video showcasing some of Doncic’s most iconic moments in a Dallas jersey. The emotional gesture clearly resonated—moving Doncic to tears in front of the crowd that once called him their own.
Luka Doncic ‘DESTROYS’ his old team
Luka delivered a dazzling performance against his former team, putting up 45 points on 16-of-28 shooting, including 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. He also added 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals in a game that showed exactly why he’s one of the best in the league.
From the opening tip, Doncic was locked in. By halftime, Doncic had racked up 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting in just 19 minutes—marking the 10th time in his career he’s scored 30 or more in a single half.
Though his scoring slowed in the second half, he continued to lead effectively, securing both a Lakers win and an unforgettable showing for the fans in Dallas.
