According to TMZ, series star Amaya Espinal was recently rushed to a Los Angeles hospital following a medical emergency. This took place after the star reportedly felt abdominal pains.
When her symptoms became severe over the weekend, Espinal reportedly underwent emergency surgery. Sources close to the outlet shared that “the situation escalated quickly” at the time.
According to the outlet, Espinal is currently in stable condition and is recovering from the procedure. Additional details concerning Espinal’s condition were not immediately available. It’s also unclear what caused the star’s abdominal pains.
Amaya Espinal Is Working On Beyond The Villa, But Was Not On Set At The Time
At this time, Espinal was in Los Angeles working on Beyond the Villa. This is also a Love Island spin-off series. The star reportedly wasn’t working when her pain escalated.
Espinal has not released a statement concerning her current health condition. However, she has been posting pre-recorded footage for beauty brands on social media.
Espinal also shared photos of herself dressed up on Monday. She could be seen with red hair and a black dress.
Espinal, also known by the nickname “Amaya Papaya,” appeared on Love Island USA in 2025 as part of the seventh season. She won the season alongside Bryan Arenales.
The two were notably the first Latino couple to win in the franchise’s history. Originally from New York City, she also became a licensed cardiac registered nurse in late 2021, working at a hospital in New York before appearing on Love Island USA.
