Sophie Cunningham reacts to Google’s recent list of most searched athletes, where the forward ranked ahead of Caitlin Clark.

The Indiana Fever ranked first in social media valuation, which was nearly seven times that of their closest rival, second-placed Dallas Wings. The ‘Fever Mania’ worked like magic in the 2025 season, with more and more famous personalities joining the already hyped-up team with Caitlin Clark. One such name was Sophie Cunningham, who also reached new highs, joining the star-studded team.

Not only did she find her new identity as the ‘Clark enforcer’, but she also bagged multiple lucrative sponsorship deals.  But the star remained true to her new identity and shut down criticism towards the guard. Recently, Cunningham shut down a nosy fan accusing Caitlin Clark of intentional clout-chasing.

This was one of many examples of her backing towards the Fever playmaker. But Cunningham also showed support for CC when Google ranked the forward above the 2024 rookie.

Sophie Cunningham Reacts To Ranking Above Caitlin Clark

While the former Iowa star’s global appeal is immense, she was not among the top 10 athletes in Google searches. Incidentally, Sophie Cunningham made the cut, ranking seventh as the most searched athlete in the US.

When the topic came up on her podcast, “Show me Something”, Cunningham said, “But there’s no real feelings towards it. People want to know more about me. I mean, yeah. But I’m sure last year [Clark] was probably No. 1, right? She blew up in college… this is just this year.”

Still being in the top 10 is a massive accomplishment for the star, who played for seven seasons in the league. Apart from her on-court gameplay, her off-court demeanor attracts fans. Yet she remained grounded for the Google ranking, giving it less importance in her explanation.

The bond between the former Missouri star and Caitlin Clark is well known. Cunningham even slammed Commissioner Cathy Engelbert for overlooking Clark’s impact as the WNBA’s popularity reaches new highs.

Sophie Cunningham Trusts Caitlin Clark The Most

Looking at Cunningham’s answer, it’s clear that she acknowledges the 2024 rookies’ influence on the fan base, the league, and the game. But in one of her interviews, she showed how much she trusts the playmaker.

The forward appeared in a rapid-fire round with Front Office Sports on Instagram. At one point, she had a question about who would be the last person to run her social media. And without any hesitation, the Fever guard pointed out that it would be Clark.

Oh, 1000% Caitlin Clark,” Cunningham said. “She is a shit starter. She would definitely start some stuff over there.”

In the current social media-driven world, handing over one’s account is undoubtedly a massive act of trust.
