Authorities have determined that former NFL quarterback John Elway did nothing criminal in the tragic Apr. 26 golf cart accident that claimed the life of his former agent and close friend, Jeff Sperbeck.

On Apr. 26, John Elway was driving a golf cart in La Quinta, California, with Jeff Sperbeck as the passenger. The latter was hospitalized after falling out of the cart and hitting his head, succumbing to a gruesome brain injury four days later.

Per Mike Klis of 9News, police have concluded the investigation and officially determined that Elway did nothing criminal, and that Sperbeck’s d3ath was a horrific accident. Here’s what Chad Bianco, Riverside Sheriff, told the outlet:

“It’s over,. We’ve talked to everyone involved and we found nothing new. There was nothing criminal, it was what we’ve been saying all along that this was a tragic accident…I’ve looked at video 100 times and there’s no explanation as to why he fell off, he just fell off.”

Klis added that nobody was intoxicated, and that Elway hadn’t committed “swerving or horseplay” while riding the cart. Sperbeck is survived by his wife, Cori, and children Carly, Sam and Jackson.

Sperbeck became the agent of John Elway in 1991, when the future Hall of Famer was in the back half of his illustrious NFL career. Sperbeck represented other NFL stars like Roger Craig, Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott and Super Bowl-winning QBs like Trent Wilfer and Jim Plunkett.

After three crushing Super Bowl losses in the front nine of his career, Elway finally broke through and led the Denver Broncos to consecutive Super Bowl championships in the 1997 and ’98 seasons.

Elway retired after winning his second Super Bowl ring and worked in the Broncos’ front office from 2011 to 2022, winning a ring as their general manager/executive VP of football operations in 2015.

Joining Lorraine Kelly on Monday’s episode of the ITV show, the TV presenter, 43, also gave an health update after having two tumours removed from jaw.

Fearne announced her split from Jesse, the son of Rolling Stones bass guitarist Ronnie Wood, in December after 10 years of marriage.

She has since made swipes at Jesse and moved on with TV director Elliot Hegarty, with the pair having been seen kissing during a recent night out.

Fearne has had a difficult few months after undergoing surgery to remove two benign tumours from her jawline, just days before her split with Jesse emerged.

She told host Lorraine: ‘It’s all very amicable and kids are doing great. I am in a very good place.’place.’

Discussing her recent surgery, she added: ‘I feel very grateful to have completely recovered.

‘I feel really good. I have a lot of people reaching out who have had the same thing.’

Davina McCall, 56, announced in November she’d been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of benign brain tumour, and has supported Fearne.

She continued: ‘Everyone needs a Davina. She’s been amazing, weird that we had the same health thing going on at the same time. She’s so calming and we speak every day. She is just the best

It comes after Fearne has seemingly made another thinly-veiled dig at her ex-husband as she gushed that she is the happiest she’s ever been in a positive update.

Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, Fearne gushed that she is ‘really happy’ and is ‘springing out of bed in the morning ready for life’.

Scott, who has known Fearne for 25 years, said he has never seen her ‘more positive or happier’, prompting Fearne to agree and reply: ‘Yeah I feel great!’
