Sophie Cunningham along wiith other WNBA stars are headed towards a possiible lockout. The negotiations between the league and the WNBPA have not yet reached a conclusion and as more time passes, a locked seems inevitable.
In a statement released on Thursday, the player association authorized the executive committee to call a strike if necessary.
“Time and again, the players’ thoughtful and reasonable approach has been met by the WNBA and its teams with a resistance to change and a recommitment to the draconian provisions that have unfairly restricted players for nearly three decades,” the statement read.

“If the WNBA screws you, you’ll find a plan B or what’s it called?” Pressley said.
“Not plan B. Project B,” Cunningham replied.

“You go to seven diifferent markets around the world. You’re only there for a certain amount of time and then you have the rest of the time off,” She said. “I am excited because I actually miss travelling the world… This gives me the perfect opportunity to play, get cultured, see the world, but also be able to come home.”
Later, Sophie Cunningham revealed that four big tech companies are backing the league. She said that the upstart league tried to recruit her, but she turned it down twice before. Project B is expected to start in the fall of 2026.
