David George, CEO of ITV America, which produces the show for Peacock, has revealed he wants the show to become a flick.

Speaking to Deadline, Mr George said that he has had conversations about translating the dating show to the feature space.

He claimed it would be to make it become “part of a broader strategy of taking more advantage of its own IP”.

Due to the success of the show last summer and this summer, the show became a “lightning bolt” for him.

He said that he realized it operates “more like a sport than a television show”.

Speaking to the outlet, he said, “Why are we not taking Love Island and figuring out how we’re going to translate that into the movie world?

“There may be something going there.

“I can’t even begin to tell you what it is, but there are those types of conversations.”

The TV executive also took over the leadership for ITV America’s scripted strategy recently.

Deadline are speculating that he and his team could be “convincing writers to set a feature in the villa”.

They also posed the possibility of the likes of Sydney Sweeney, Kristen Bell or Chloe Fineman starring as host Ariana Madix.

Reacting to the news of a movie being made of the hit reality-dating show, one person penned: “Oh hell yeahhhh can smell it.”

“Seems interesting,” said another.

But many fans of the reality show were not keen on the news of a potential movie.

“Look I love the show. But a movie ???! Hard pass,” said one.

“Oh my gosh, why ? Why the hell is someone doing this,” penned a second.

“Awful idea. Un-discuss it immediately,” said a third.

“How would this even be made into a movie?” asked a fourth.

A fifth person then penned, “A total of 0 people asked for this.”

“This could work only if it’s horror based,” said a sixth.

And a seventh wrote: “I would only accept this if it was done in a mockumentary style with the same tone as unreal.”
