The Detroit Lions fan who got punched in the face by Pittsburgh Steelers star DK Metcalf has been identified.

The wide receiver is thought to be in a world of trouble after cameras caught him holding the fan by the hair, then striking him in the face.

Metcalf was allowed to remain on the field despite his shocking actions. And the NFL has since explained why.

The league reportedly relayed that, due to the lack of a flag on the field, they were unable to intervene in real time.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin addressed the incident in his postgame press conference on Sunday night.

Metcalf is expected to be heavily fined and/or suspended.

The altercation occurred near the end of the second quarter of the Steelers’ 29-24 win.

Meanwhile, the fan has identified himself. The Detroit Free Press managed to track him down, and although he was initially hesitant to speak, he eventually revealed his identity.

The Lions supporter in question told said outlet his name is Ryan Kennedy. According to Kennedy, he triggered the two-time Pro Bowler by calling him his full name.

Surprisingly enough, it isn’t DK…

Kennedy told the paper that, once he blurted out the player’s government name, he grabbed him and ripped his shirt.

“What, my full name isn’t is DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf,” Kennedy said. “He doesn’t like his government name.” 

“I called him that and then he grabbed me and ripped my shirt,” he added. “I’m a little shocked. Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little rattled, but I just want the Lions to win, baby.”

Of note, he didn’t make any mention of being struck.

It’s a pretty bad look for DeKaylin… if Kennedy is telling the truth, that is.

Perhaps the coming days will shed more light on the situation and whether this is what he actually said.
