Player Sophie Cunningham breaks the silence on the strange injury keeping Caitlin Clark off the court

Indiana Fever superstarCaitlin Clark remains sidelined by a condition that has puzzled even her own teammates. Shooting guard Sophie Cunningham recently shared details about the mysterious injury affecting Clark, calling it “one of the strangest” she has seen in professional basketball.
“It’s such a weird injury. There’s no constant pain, but when it does show up, it can immediately trigger another issue,”Cunningham explained. That unpredictability has led the team’s medical staff to take a more cautious approach, aiming to prevent any setback that could jeopardize Clark’s long-term health.
Clark still has no set return date
Clark initially missed five games due to a left quadriceps strain. Then came a left groin issue that forced her to sit out the Fever’s historic win in the Commissioner’s Cup. Now, a new discomfort in her right groin has raised fresh concerns.
Although the team announced on July 24 that Clark has not suffered any new injuries, the absence of a clear return date reinforces the idea that Indiana is prioritizing her well-being over any short-term goals.
Caitlin Clark’s absence weakens the Indiana Fever
Since Clark stepped off the court, the Fever have lost their offensive edge. Without her court vision, three-point shooting, and ability to create space, the team has had to reinvent itself. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston have stepped up offensively, but it hasn’t been enough.
The roster construction has also exposed some weaknesses, such as the lack of a frontcourt player who can score from the perimeter. DeWanna Bonner, who seemed poised to fill that role, unexpectedly left the team, creating a gap that’s proven difficult to fill.
Fever still fighting in the WNBA
Indiana remains in playoff contention, hovering around sixth place in the standings. The team’s resilience has kept them competitive, but without their star, their true potential remains out of reach.
A possible return by Caitlin Clark before September could change everything. Her presence would not only elevate the team’s overall play, but also allow time to rebuild the chemistry needed for a strong postseason run.
Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate
Brittney Griner (Photo via Twitter)
WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
