Sounds like they would be a good match.

The Buffalo Bills have been linked with former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick amid their search for a new head coach.

The AFC East team shockingly fired Sean McDermott after their loss to the Denver Broncos last weekend. They have several candidates in line and are “casting a wide net.”

However, Belichick is not among the options.

The 73-year-old currently coaches the UNC Tar Heels and is coming off a 4-8 debut season.

Should he return to the NFL this year, it won’t be with the Bills.

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio is reporting that the team does not want Belichick. Mind you, this is the same team that just interviewed Philip Rivers.

“The Bills are casting a wide net when it comes to searching for their next head coach,” Florio reported on Sunday. “But not wide enough to encompass the man who won six Super Bowls with a division rival.

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Bills are not interested in Bill Belichick.

Furthermore, the eight-time Super Bowl winner is considered to be “radioactive” by most coach-needy teams, per Florio.

And he has only himself to blame, thanks to the bizarre distractions he created in North Carolina over the past year and his open hostility toward his long-time employer in New England. Any NFL owner who would be inclined to hire Belichick would have to assume that, eventually, some of that same venom will be directed to his next former team.

Belichick has had just one interview in three hiring cycles. He also lost out to Raheem Morris after it was reported that he was a shoo-in for the Atlanta Falcons job in 2024.

Will he ever get an opportunity to resume his chase of Don Shula? He’d probably have to do a lot better than 4-8 to help his case.
