Carmelo Anthony found himself on the receiving end of an unfortunate joke these NBA playoffs.

As the recent Hall of Fame electee has been in the headlines of late, so has 17-year-old “Karmelo” Anthony who was reportedly involved in the fatal Frisco, TX stabbing at a high school track meet earlier this month.

So when Melo arrived in New York a few days ago, you already know what users were saying on X.

“You’re a sick [expletive] for stabbing that high schooler,” a fan said.

“Lock him up,” a burner account replied.

“Should be in the prison building, smh.”

“Look now they treating him like a celebrity for stabbing that white kid for ‘bullying’ smh,” another person commented.

Anthony, the accused teen, was arrested on April 2 and is alleged to have killed fellow 17-year-old Austin Metcalf in what he claims was “self-defense.” His initial bond was set at $1 million but dropped to $250,000 which allowed for his release from jail.

According to Karmelo’s father, Anthony is a two-sport captain and A-student who has plans of going to college after graduation — something he was on track to do next month.

Anthony’s release included the conditions of house arrest and an ankle monitor, per Texas authorities.
