Blue State Democrat Resigns in Disgrace after Calling for Violence against Trump

In a recently uncovered series of posts to Facebook, Christine Paige, an elected Democrat in Potsdam, NY, called for the assassination of President Trump at the height of the 2024 election. After a massive blacklash, she was forced to resign, although she had never recanted her words.

For context, American politics has been beset by increasing calls for violence from the far left. After Trump survived two failed assassination attempts, many conservatives have wondered if there was more behind these threats than simple rhetoric.

As reported by conservative influencer Libs of TikTok, Paige took to her Facebook to threaten President Trump. The New York Democrat posted, “I have seen no credible proof that he’s a human being. Maybe you know something we don’t. To me, it would be akin to putting down a rabid dog.”

Adding context in her Auguest 2, 2024 post, Libs of TikTok stated, “Meet Christine Paige (D), an elected town board member in Potsdam, NY. She thinks that Donald Trump being sh*t would be like “putting down a rabid dog.” She then called critics’ reaction to her disgusting comment, ‘foolishness.’”

According to local media, Supervisor Marty Miller, who’s in charge of the Potsdam board, condemned her wild statements. He declared, “The Board does not agree with the statement and denounces the comments made. This act of freedom of speech, as the Board member claims it to be, may have satisfied their own needs; the consequences have been severe to the integrity of this Board and the Community of Potsdam as a whole.”

Building on this point, Miller said, “I can tell you firsthand that this selfish act of one person’s satisfaction has been a nightmare for me and the rest of the Board the last couple of weeks. Even the staff at the Town Hall has had to put up with phone calls, voicemails, and emails, taking us all away from our daily duties as representatives of the Town of Potsdam,” adding, “The law prohibits the Board from ousting someone.”

Concluding his remarks, the civic leader stated, “I hope the Potsdam Community and people who responded to the statement or did not respond, do not hold this against this Board. I know this will take time, and I hope time mends some of the damage that has been done.”

In a subsequent tweet, Libs of TikTok revealed that the controversial Democrat had resigned due to overwhelming pressure. She reported, “BREAKING UPDATE: Democrat NY Town Board Member Christine Paige has FINALLY RESIGNED after months of pressure following her sickening comments after Trump was almost ass*ssinated. Bye Bye 👋”

Underneath the post, conservatives took to the comments to express their disgust. One such comment read, “I just can’t understand why these most hateful people on the planet think they’re morally Superior to everybody else and that they should be allowed to act like that!” Another user agreed, saying, “Good riddance. Paige’s reckless comment was a disgrace, and her resignation shows that even Democrats can’t escape accountability. We stand united against political violence and for a stronger America under Trump’s leadership.”
