Paige Bueckers at the WNBA Draft.

Paige Bueckers realized one of her dreams on Monday, becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft.

Fresh off an outstanding final season at UConn, in which he led the Huskies to their first national championship in nine years, Bueckers was picked first overall by the Dallas Wings. Wings general manager Curt Miller made it clear the organization never considered anyone but Bueckers with the pick.

“The conversations [with the Wings] were brief, but just for them to know that I am coming in and wanting to give everything I have to that organization,” Bueckers said, via ESPN. “Dallas is a sports city, so I’m super excited for the support, the new wave of being there, being in a new city, being with a new team and conquering those challenges as a group. We’ve got great pieces, a great ownership, great GMs, great coaches. The entire organization from up to down, I’m extremely excited for it.”

On draft night, Bueckers turned heads with her Coach and Louis Vuitton outfit. On Thursday, her draft night photo dump attracted attention on Instagram.

In addition to the pictures, Bueckers also shouted out every stylist and designer who was involved in her ensemble.

“Hey can you help me pick my jaw back up?” one person commented on the post.

“Now Miss Buckets I wasn’t ready for you to pop off like this😍🥵,” added Bueckers’ former UConn teammate and current WNBA star Aaliyah Edwards.

“Icon going right to the next level 🔥🤩🤩👏,” a third person said.

“So pretty,” added a fourth.

“baddie vibes only 🔥🔥,” a fifth person chimed in.

With the Wings, Bueckers will be joining a franchise that went 9-31 and missed the playoffs last year but made the postseason in 2022 and 2023.

WNBA fans will get their first regular season look at the former UConn star when the Wings take on the Minnesota Lynx on Friday, May 16.
